400 Series Stainless Steel Alloys
This alloy contains 11-27% chromium, up to 1% carbon and up to 2.5% nickel. 400 series stainless steel alloys produced by Sanat Gostar are totally responsive to heat treatment and can be supplied with a predominantly martensitic microstructure in a wide range of strength and hardness. The High carbon SS alloys are a combination of wear resistance and corrosion resistance.
While the martensite grades may contain up to 15% ferrite, grades that are completely ferrite can also be produced. These grades have high weldability and hot gas corrosion resistance.
General speaking, 400 series stainless steel alloys are not as resistant to corrosion as 300 series stainless steel alloys, but they are stronger and are more cost-effective in certain environments.
