Thermal Expansion Alloys
Alloys with controlled thermal expansion coefficient, such as Invar and Kovar, are produced on the basis of iron-nickel and are known for their low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). Iron and nickel have very similar coefficients; However, in these alloys the coefficient of thermal expansion changes with adding nickel.
