Modeling
A three-dimensional design is created using mathematical data. This can be done manually using a CAD software or by a three-dimensional scan.
STL File
Once the CAD file is ready, it should be converted to an STL file. Few things should be considered during the converting process, as the resolution of the design can be controlled by changing the density of the meshes during the mesh pattern making process.
Slicing Process
When the STL file has been created, now it’s the time for slicing the part with a software. With the help of this software, our 3D model is converted into understandable data for G-Code format printers. If all the instructions are done correctly, the printed design will have the best quality.
Post-processing
For most 3D technologies, the post-processing is an important step for preparing the part for final use. Removing the supports of parts that have a complex geometry is the most vital. After that, other processes such as polishing, coating, cold welding, etc. can be done according to the part function. After completing all these steps, our part will be ready for the casting process.
