In Sanat Gostar, we are witnessing the developing of technology and stepping in new fields, including the medical industry. The production of orthoses and medical prostheses is another part of our company’s activities, which aims to eliminate the need for domestic industries to import such necessities, so that everyone can afford high quality products at a lower cost. One of this specific products is hip replacement implants.

Hip Replacement Implants

There are different types of hip prostheses, for instance in some of them stems and heads are attached to each other and can be considered as one single part, but there are some modern implants which these two parts are separated from each other and the spherical head of the femur is movable on a smaller sphere. This type of implant is called bipolar hip prosthesis.

Hip Resurfacing

There is another type of hip replacement which replaces only a part of the hip joint. Hip Resurfacing (HR), which may be considered a replacement of the femoral head, is a surgical replacement for Total Hip Replacement (THR). Cap (femoral head) which is usually made of cobalt-chromium alloy, is changed. Another piece of metal (cup) is then placed inside the acetabulum (like the piece used in THR) to pair with the cap. In this type of hip implant, much fewer bones are removed compared to the THR method, and the risk of implant dislocation will be less (due to the larger femoral head).

There is something else we should consider in choosing the type of our hip implants. Connected sphere part of bipolar prostheses are made of different materials. The metal-plastic type is the most popular in the market, but this prosthesis also has other types that you can see in the figure:
